Ashish Sharma is the CEO at InnoVen Capital India.
Prior to joining InnoVen, he was the President & CEO of GE Capital, India, where his responsibilities included oversight of GE Capital’s activities in India, through its 100% owned Finance Companies (NBFC’s) and Credit Card JV’s (“SBI Cards”), a leading Credit Card player in the Indian market.
Ashish was associated with GE/GE Capital for ~20 years and held progressive leadership roles across General management, P&L Leader, Strategy, M&A and Corporate Finance. He has extensive global experience and had the opportunity to work across India, US, Japan, Australia & Europe.
Ashish has extensive governance experience and has served on boards of several NBFC’s and Joint Ventures. He has also participated with various industry bodies and served on the CII National Banking Committee, CII National Committee on NBFC’s and CII National Committee on Financial Inclusion & Digitization.
Ashish holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Allahabad and an MBA from S.P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. He loves to travel, read non-fiction / history and is an avid sports enthusiast.
Punit is a Director at InnoVen Capital India where he is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and closing venture debt deals as well as developing alliances and building relationships in the startup ecosystem. Punit also leads the firm’s deal sourcing activity for mezzanine lending opportunities with established, profitable, lower middle-market bootstrapped companies in India.
Punit brings almost a decade of transaction experience involving both commercial lending and financial consulting for middle-market companies. Prior to joining InnoVen Capital India (formerly SVB India Finance), Punit worked with the Corporate Banking team in Yes Bank and originated and executed deals in the Media and Entertainment space. He has also worked with HSBC Ltd in India where he was responsible for providing credit facilities to SMEs in Western India, and Ernst & Young where Punit worked with the Transaction Support Services Department on M&A taxation.
Punit has a Bachelor’s in Commerce from HR College, Mumbai University and holds a Management Degree from Welingkar Institute of Management Studies. He is an animal and movie enthusiast in addition to having a keen interest in sports.
Ankit is a Director at InnoVen Capital India where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing venture debt transactions in India as well as supporting the firm’s emerging lending business in South-East Asia.
In addition to his lending role, Ankit co-leads the firm’s initiative to work with seed and angel backed companies and position them for success by providing guidance on funding raising alternatives and connecting with investors, key business partners and peers. In November 2013, Ankit helped contribute to the publishing of the first formal study highlighting angel investment activity in India conducted in partnership with the key angel groups in the country.
Prior to joining SVB India in 2011, Ankit was a Credit Risk Manager with YES Bank in Mumbai and was responsible for due diligence and credit risk evaluation of SME clients. He started his career as a credit analyst with ICICI Bank, Kolkata.
Ankit holds a PGDM from IMT Ghaziabad and a Bachelor’s in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Ankit is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI) and Company Secretary (ICSI). He is an avid backpacker and a music junkie, loves photography and is always up to debate new ideas.
Tarana Lalwani is a Director at InnoVen Capital India, she is responsible for sourcing, negotiating and closing venture debt deals as well as developing alliances and building relationships in the startup ecosystem.
Tarana has extensive experience in finance, corporate advisory, and business development. She started her career in New York with Morgan Stanley, and later joined Radian, a financial services firm, in their structured finance group. After moving to Mumbai, India in 2006, Tarana managed fund raising activities at Webaroo (SMS Gupshup), a mobile internet start-up at IIT Mumbai, shortly after which she worked as a senior adviser with Sky Advance, a boutique private equity firm, where she acquired a better understanding of the investing and deal management environment in India and Asia. She also consulted at an education start-up, and was Vice President, Investment Banking, at Anand Rathi, a boutique financial services firm in Mumbai.
Tarana is actively involved in the angel and early stage space and was actively involved at Mumbai Angels, screening and closing transactions for the forum. Tarana joined Seedfund India Advisors in 2012, one of India premier early stage funds, an India centric sector agnostic fund with notable investments like Carwale and Redbus. At Seedfund Tarana sourced, evaluated and mentored early stage companies. She also worked closely with the portfolio companies to help them get to the next level of growth. Tarana holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from LaSalle University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School, USA.
Aashish is a Senior Associate at Innoven Capital and is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing venture debt deals in India. Aashish is also actively engaged in building relationships with start-ups and is keen to become an active part of the venture ecosystem in India.
Aashish has experience in Investment Banking, Investing and has been an Entrepreneur himself. Prior to joining Innoven Capital, Aashish worked at Brand Capital, the Investment arm of Bennett Coleman covering Education, Financial services and Healthcare sectors.
Previously he co-founded a start-up in the tax compliance and advisory space namely makemyreturns.com, a platform that helps individuals and corporations with their tax and financial advisory related work.
Aashish has completed his MBA from the Indian School of Business and is also a Chartered Accountant (CA) by qualification.
Pooja is a Senior Associate at InnoVen Capital India where she assists the Deal Leads on evaluation, structuring and closure of new transactions as well as portfolio monitoring. Pooja is also actively engaged in building relationships with early stage companies.
In addition to providing support on the lending activities, Pooja is also responsible for marketing initiatives and media relations for InnoVen Capital India.
Prior to joining InnoVen Capital, Pooja worked with BMR & Associates LLP where she has assisted on transaction advisory assignments from tax and regulatory perspective as well as undertaken comprehensive research on tax implications under various Cloud Computing service models.
Pooja is a Chartered Accountant (ICAI) by qualification and a Bachelors in Commerce with distinction from R.A.Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai University. She loves painting, adventure and reading fiction.
Ujwal is a Senior Associate at Innoven Capital and is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing venture transactions in India. Having run a startup himself for 3 years, Ujwal understands the issues involved at the early stage and is actively involved, hands on, with seed and early stage startups to help them in various activities, right from finding right investors to connecting to the right business partners, relevant mentors and peers in the industry and academia.
He has an operating experience in online marketplace and health tech ventures. Prior to joining InnoVen Capital, he started Athletto, a platform to help people search & book sports & fitness places online. Earlier, he had started his professional career working in power sector looking after the financial, commercial and legal aspects of the infrastructural assets across the Indian subcontinent.
Ujwal holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Bachelor’s in Technology from National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (NIT Nagpur). He is a fitness freak and enjoys playing tennis, badminton and likes doing yoga and surya namaskar regularly. He also likes traveling to mountains, doing landscape photography and reading startup blogs.
Senior Manager – Finance & Operations
Nisha is Senior Manager- Finance and Operations at InnoVen Capital India where she is responsible for review and preparation of various financial reports and management information, managing bank facilities and various statutory compliances.
Nisha started off her professional career with Deloitte Haskins & Sells as statutory auditor involving risk assessment, internal control testing, statutory compliances.
Prior to joining the company, Nisha worked with the captive accounting team with Jardine Lloyd Thomson India Pvt Ltd where she was responsible for finalisation of financial statement and assuring internal control.
Nisha is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI) and Bachelors in Commerce with distinction.
She likes travelling, adventure and loves creativity.
Aditya Mathur is a Senior Manager at InnoVen Capital India where he is responsible for managing Treasury and FP&A as well as developing Market Intelligence of startup ecosystem.
Aditya has 5 years of experience across functions in corporate finance and treasury in IT and Retail industries.
Aditya holds PGDM from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai and BE from RVCE, Bangalore. He has also cleared all levels of the CFA program. He loves to read about World Affairs and Economics. He is also fond of traveling and participating in 10k runs.
Karan is an Associate at InnoVen Capital where he assists in deal execution, closure of transactions, portfolio monitoring and credit risk mitigation. He is enthusiastic to work with passionate Indian entrepreneurs and help them to scale up.
Karan has experience in Business Development, Strategy and Operations. Prior to joining InnoVen Capital, Karan worked as a Consultant at PwC India. He was part of the go-to-market team for PwC Advisory and supported the cross-sell agenda of the Advisory Leadership Group. Previously, he worked as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Rocket Internet in Shanghai for 1.5 years working on an early stage ecommerce cross-border platform.
Karan graduated from New York University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and concentrations in Mathematics and Business. In his free time, he loves to travel and explore different cultures, play competitive badminton and watch sci-fi movies.
Anubha is an Associate at Innoven where she assists in due diligence, structuring and closure of new venture debt transactions. She is also responsible for ongoing portfolio monitoring and maintaining credit quality through consistent checks on business performance and continuous engagements with founders.
Anubha has experience in corporate banking and investment banking. Prior to joining Innoven Capital, Anubha worked as a Relationship manager in ICICI Bank where she managed a portfolio of large corporates.
Anubha holds a PGDM from IIM Indore and a Bachelor’s in Business Studies from Shaheed Sukhev College of Business Studies, DU. She loves to travel, do mandala coloring and read life accounts and mythology.
Client Support & Office Administration
Sujana Ravishankar handles Client Support and Administration at InnoVen Capital India. Sujana has almost two decades of experience in Office Administration having started her career with a Pharmaceutical Marketing Consultancy where she spent eight years gaining knowledge in different aspects of publications, administration, and HR. She then moved to Cushman & Wakefield India before joining InnoVen Capital India (formerly SVB India Finance) in 2008.
Sujana has a BA from Mumbai University and holds a diploma in Human Resource Management from Welingkar Institute of Management Studies. An ex-athlete, Sujana still enjoys trekking and is a regular practitioner of yoga and meditation.</p
Chin Chao brings with him more than 15 years of experience in the venture capital and venture debt industries, including entrepreneurship, company building and business operations and strategy.
Chin was most recently the Co-Managing Director at Sirius SME, a venture capital firm he co-founded in the middle of 2008. Sirius SME invested in small and medium enterprises in SE Asia which are leaders in their respective fields. Notable investments include Reebonz (a leading e-commerce company focused on luxury goods), Heptagon Advanced Micro-Optics (a technology enabler of miniature optical components), Jason Parquet (listed in Singapore) and Ong Joo Joo Food Industries (a leading pork processing company in Singapore).
Prior to Sirius SME, Chin was a Managing Director of Venture TDF Singapore and Venture TDF China. Notable investments include AAC Acoustics (listed in Hong Kong), Alibaba (listed on the NYSE), Baidu.com (listed on NASDAQ), DMX Technologies (listed in Singapore), Focus Media (listed on NASDAQ), Mediaring (listed in Singapore), Redback Networks (listed on NASDAQ), Sinosun Technologies (listed in Shenzhen) and Savi Technology (acquired by Lockheed Martin).
During his time at Venture TDF in Singapore, Chin also co-founded and served as a key member of the management team of the TechFinancing Centre, a joint-venture between OCBC Bank (formerly, KeppelTatLee Bank), Venture TDF and the Economic Development Board of Singapore. The TechFinancing Center provided innovative debt solutions to growth-oriented companies in Asia.
Chin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He also received his Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and is the author of three publications on technology and business law. Chin continues to be involved with Stanford Law School and is currently a member of its Board of Visitors.
Director of Governance Risk and Compliance
Darren is Director of Governance Risk and Compliance. Working in conjunction with the various business functions, he is responsible for setting, implementing and ensuring compliance with Group wide policies relating to Governance, Risk and Compliance.
Prior to joining InnoVen Capital, Darren was a Senior Manager with PwC with over 12 years of regional experience in internal audit, risk management and assurance. He was the lead manager for several large projects across the Asia Pacific region and specialises in providing assurance and advises on several transformation work for mainly financial services clients.Darren was also the Asia Pacific Head of Internal Audit for a UK listed asset manager where he led and executed assurance and advisory work for the company in the Asia Pacific region.
Darren is a Certified Internal Auditor and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree issued by the University of Western Australia. His other interest includes reading, and attempting to understand the world of computer codes.
Director of Finance & Administration
Terence is a Director of Finance & Administration at InnoVen Capital Group where he is responsible for the full spectrum of accounting and financial matters as well as assisting in the Group’s international expansion.
Terence started off his professional career as an external auditor with KPMG where he is involved in assurance testing, internal control assessment and financial statement audit for financial institutions. Prior to joining InnoVen, Terence worked with the financial control team of Royal Bank of Scotland where he has covered the financial reporting and finance risk & control activities for the Asia Pacific countries.
With an ACCA professional qualification, Terence is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore and holds a Bachelor (Honours) in Banking & Finance from University of London (LSE). He is keen traveller and enjoys water activities.
Ben is an Associate Director at InnoVen Capital where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing venture debt transactions in Singapore and SE Asia.
Prior to joining InnoVen Capital, he spent 4 years with United Overseas Bank Singapore where he managed a portfolio of middle-market companies helping to originate and execute a variety of commercial lending deals involving property, ship and trade finance. On-top of this, Ben was also responsible for cross selling a range of services which included cash management, FX, Commercial Cards. He had also worked with Citibank Singapore where he started his career managing a portfolio of SME companies focusing on cash management and secured lending.
Ben holds a double degree in Accountancy/Business Management from Singapore Management University and has a keen interest in the pop/rock music scene.
Paul is an Associate Director at InnoVen Capital where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing venture debt transactions in Singapore and SE Asia.
Prior to joining Innoven Capital, he spent 6 years with DBS Bank Singapore, where he managed a portfolio of clients in the Conglomerates Industry Group across South-East Asia, helping to originate and execute financing solutions including loans, capital markets, transaction banking and treasury services.
Paul holds a degree in Business Management from Singapore Management University.
Stephanie is an Analyst at InnoVen Capital Singapore where she provides assistance in the execution of deals, monitors portfolio risk, and oversees client satisfaction in addition to involvement in several project assignments.
Prior to joining InnoVen Capital, Stephanie was at Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post where she contributed as a writer and managed their online pages. She also has worked on Ogilvy & Mather’s Worldwide Creative Department in New York. Stephanie has a Bachelor’s in Corporate Communication and Sociology from Bentley University. She enjoys practicing yoga/meditation and is a food television shows enthusiast.
Client Support & Office Administration
Jessica Lee handles office management and business administration support at InnoVen Capital Singapore. She has over 20 years of experience in business administration and office management having started her career with a Telecommunication Consultancy, TEOCO where she spent four years building her knowledge in project management. She then moved to an independent public relations agency for three years to help set up and manage office administrative structures, employee welfare, HR procedures and bookkeeping before joining InnoVen Capital Singapore in 2016.
Entrepreneurial in nature, Jessica is resourceful and enjoys problem solving, seeking the best solutions for her team. Jessica is passionate about her work and aims to leave a place in a better state than it was when she first started. In her free time, she enjoys baking and sharing her bake treats with the office.
Yingxue Cao is the Managing Director responsible for leading the InnoVen’s business in China. She is a senior expert in China venture lending business with more than 10 years working experiences in debt market.
Prior to joining InnoVen capital, Yingxue was a Managing Director of China Growth Capital where she led the venture lending business.
Yingxue started her career in investment banking in Deutsche Bank (HongKong). She was the Vice President of Debt Capital Market Department responsibly for the the initiation and underwriting of large and medium-sized domestic foreign bonds, structured products. She also served as a senior analyst in Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.
Yingxue received her Ph.D. in quantitative economics from Tsinghua University, she also had Master degree and Bachelor degree in Finance from Tsinghua University.
Boning Ju is the associate at InnoVen Capital where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing venture debt transactions in China.
Prior to joining InnoVen Capital, he is the associate in China Growth Capital where he successfully invested in nearly 20+ high-tech, financial, corporate services and medical start-ups. Previously, he worked at PWC, participating in IPOs & secondary issue in China mainland. In addition, he has won the eighth International Marketing Competition in Singapore and the champion of the National business school skills competition.
Boning received his Bachelor of science degree from Beijing International Study University， he was the exchange student in Hong Kong University.
Li Tian is the senior analyst at InnoVen Capital where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing venture debt transactions in China.
Li is an entrepreneur with extensive experiences in start-up and investing. He was the founder and president of ISIG (international student investment group) which is one of the largest young professional social networking investment club in North America. When he was in New York, he worked as an analyst to help IFMK successfully IPO in Nasdaq; and he also participated in founding a hedge fund.
Li received his master degree from The Johns Hopkins University and Bachelor of science degree from Indiana University Bloomington.
Yuting Li handles office management and business administration at InnoVen Capital China. She is mainly responsible for Office’s financial, legal and personal work.
Prior to Joining in InnoVen Capital, Yuting worked in the business administration department of a NGO in Beijing.
Yuting received her Master degree from Ji Lin University and Bachelor degree in philosophy from Dalian Maritime University.
